1. About Remote4Joy

Remote4Joy is utility for Sony Clie devices with audio remote control (RMC). Remote4Joy help you to use RMC as joypad, making remote control buttons work as hardware buttons. Also it can be useful for NR/NX owners, who use device in tablet mode. RMC can be used as hardware buttons.
You can simulate 5-Way Navigator from PalmOne devices with remote control.
Also you can use support for Pocket Tunes player. Pocket Tunes can be used in background mode.
2. Requirements
This program works on Sony Clie devices with audio remote control.
3. Download
Download Remote4Joy.
4. Installation
Unzip archive and install remote4joy.prc with your favorite installation tool.
5. Uninstallation
Deactivate Remote4Joy and delete from your application launcher.
6. Usage
Run Remote4Joy. You will see setting screen. First piece of information is 'RMC Owner program'. It is an application , who take RMC ownership. If you want to use Remote4Joy, you should detach RMC from those application. Launch owner application enter options dialog and uncheck something like 'background control'. For example you should uncheck 'Menu->Options->Preferences->Enable background play' in 'Audio Player' application.
Then select targets for all RMC buttons. Press 'Enable'. Check RMC buttons.
Remote4Joy restore state after reset.
Possible action codes cover 4 application buttons (Address, Datebook, ToDo, Memo), Up and Down buttons, 5-Way Navigator buttons, Sony Capture button and special actions for Pocket Tunes audio player
7. PocketTunes support
With Modern Clie Audio by CliePet you can extend your NX/NZ/TG device with modern sound capabilites like UX/TH/TT3 models. 3rd party audio players can be controlled with 5-Way Navigator emulation in foreground mode. Pocket Tunes audio player able to play in background. To control Pocket Tunes in background mode you should select special actions for remote control buttons:
Play - PT Play
Stop - PT Stop
FR - PT FR
FF - PT FF
Down - PT Vol Dn
Up - PT Vol Up |
8. Troubleshooting
- Don't forget to take ownership off from another program.
- If you check 'background play' in Sony Audio Player while Remote4Joy owning RMC, program alerts with strange messages. Don't worry, it's ok. Sony programmers were unexpected, that someone can use RMC :-)
- Remote4Joy didn't work with arcade games
- Some applications can't recognize RMC buttons as hard buttons. Some exploration required. Send me message and application name to support@palmoid.com, I'll try to fix problem.
